Buenaventura Ballet and Dance Academy, founded by Carolyn Taylor, has been
fostering the artistic talents of Ventura countyıs young people & developing the performing arts since 1970.
We are very proud of our students & their accomplishments. Many of our past
students include those who have obtained dance scholarships to places like BYU and UCSB as well as
professionals in the field of dance and dramatic arts. Others have gone into teaching, drawing on
their experience gleaned from time spent performing in our dance companies Buenaventura Ballet, Buenaventura
Junior Ballet, and Les Petit Ballet. These company members dedicate themselves to daily classes in ballet as well
as tap & jazz in order to perfect their art. They perform at our own dance concerts and public events and also do
community service work such as performing for convalescent centers.
All students at the academy are privileged to work with experienced dance educators
and professionals on the faculty such as Cynthia Scott. Distinguished guest
artists and professional choreographers such as Bonnie Knight have also set
special original works that are performed by our students.
The art of dance gives our students the sense of achievement, joy, and the
desire and skills to succeed in life.
