Welcome friends, to the eve of another great year at hand. 2016 was a great year for us and there is nothing more exciting than jumping full force into a new year of new opportunities filled with hopes and dreams. But nothing is more exciting than wrapping up a whole adventure with a new year's party. 2016 was filled with exciting new people and adventures and connecting with old friends and relationships. Sure, its easy to look over the negativity of the year by relishing the past. Look to a brighter future in 2017 because your vision is only impaired by how far you look. A good friend of mine, Rick Collins, CEO of a Radiation Badge Company shared these 10 tips with me. It will be another year of brining solutions to opportunities. And here are 10 ways to have a brighter 2017:
#10 Learn a new skill.
It's a proven fact that the human brain experiences body warming chemicals when its
stimulated with new ideas and actions. Try something new like an art class, join a bowling league or learn to dance!
At least once a month write down your happy times throughout the month. Keep a journal of what happens throughout the year to remember all the happy times. And when you are
having a down day you will have a book to remind you of all the good things in life.
#8 Save some money
You will be thrilled to understand the importance of saving money in our consumeristic society. Even if its $20 per month, at the end of the year you will have $240 that you can spend to go on a cruise or a really fun night out on the town.
#7 Watch a movie
Take time out of your busy schedule to watch a movie with a friend or a loved one. It will mean a lot to the person that you thought of them and invited them to catch a flick. Maybe you will find your soul mate.
#6 Take a hike
We weren’t made to sit in chairs and cubicles all day. Pick a hiking trail near your house and go take a walk. Enjoy the beauty of our wonderful earth and you’ll realize how refreshing the air feels to your lungs.
#5 Save a life
It may not be an every day occurrence that you get to do CPR to a stranger but there are other ways to help humans survive. Give a gift from the heart and donate blood. There’s even opportunities to host a blood drive for your work or church.
#4 Give free gifts
It doesn’t take much to give people a smile and one of the best ways to do it is by smiling at people. Once you start looking, you will notice most people walk around looking at the ground and travel around looking unhappy. Turn that frown upside down and smile at 5 people today and watch their response.
#3 Put up Christmas lights
This year promise to do the chore that most of us run from like a Jamaican sprinter. We all know it’s not the most fun thing to be doing during the holidays but sacrifice an afternoon and put up those stringed lights and cover the bushes with multi colored lights because Santa Claus is coming to town.
#2 Forgive someone
Maybe the most difficult thing anyone can ever do is admit they were wrong. Forgiving someone for something they did to you may be the most difficult because we feel wronged and it hurts. This year don’t let someone continue to rule your feelings by wrongful actions in the past. Forgive.
The old adage says dance like no one is watching. There is something freeing when we let down our guard and move to the rhythm of the music. The beauty in motion created by a dance is what makes the human spirit delightful. Give it a try and just dance.
